Brittain
Grant Brittain (b.1955) is a Southern California photographer and founding contributor to the premiere issue of TransWorld SKATEboarding magazine, later becoming the magazine’s Photo Editor and Senior Photographer, and for more than twenty helped the publication grow into the most popular skate magazine in the world. Grant is formative in defining the subject of skate photography and is widely known as a mentor to some of the best skate photographers, past and present, helping them develop their own work.
Grant Brittain’s photography, which involves portrait, landscape, and abstract subjects, reflects his deep involvement in an emerging youth culture and discerning eye for poetic composition. He teaches photography workshops at University of California San Diego and is contributor to the Photographer’s Eye Collective in Escondido, California.
